Oldest Cat in the World: 38 Years, Bacon for Breakfast
The oldest cat ever, Creme Puff, lived to 38 in Austin, Texas. Most pet cats live well under 20.
The twist: the record she broke belonged to Granpa, another cat in the same house. Both belonged to Jake Perry, a plumber whose cats got bacon, eggs, broccoli and coffee every morning, and who built them a little movie theater, with previews.
Please do not copy the breakfast: coffee is toxic to cats. The tip that does work: indoor cats live about twice as long as outdoor cats.

The oldest cat ever lived to thirty-eight. Her name was Creme Puff, from Austin, Texas. She was born in nineteen sixty-seven and lived until two thousand five. Most pet cats live well under twenty years. She almost doubled that. Guinness World Records still lists her at the top.
But here is the weird part. The record she broke belonged to another cat. And that cat lived in the same house. His name was Granpa, a part Sphynx cat who lived to about thirty-four. Two record holders. One owner.
He was Jake Perry, a plumber in Austin. Every morning, his cats got bacon, eggs, broccoli and coffee. He even built them a little movie theater, with previews.
Please do not copy the breakfast. Coffee can poison a cat. Want your cat to live longer? Keep it indoors. That alone can double its life. Maybe not to thirty-eight, though.
